Jane Garnham - Learning

Action Learning

Developed by Reg Revans, the founder of the approach, action learning is a powerful and sustainable approach to group, individual and organisational learning.  It has been likened to group coaching and involves presentation skills, project planning, diagnostic work,  creative thinking and action planning.   Reg said, "We are trying to encourage managers to discover how they can pose fresh questions in conditions of ignorance, risk and confusion; first to design a new course of action; second to implement that action."

If you are looking to broaden the experience of your staff, develop their management and leadership skills and qualities or you are looking to support a change process, action learning can help you.  Participating in an action learning set develops skills in the following areas:

  • Active Listening
  • Open questioning
  • Coaching
  • Reflection
  • Giving and receiving feedback
  • Facilitation
  • Diagnostic and problem solving
  • Creative thinking
  • Leadership

Sets can be formed of real teams, of staff from different teams and departments and also inter-organisationally.

" Jane has great ability to help the group maintain focus and steering as necessary, a good listener - reflecting seriously poignant and provocative feedback during sessions. "  - Client feedback
